The St. Louis Ambush enter their fourth season since returning to the indoor soccer scene, but there are a lot of changes in store this season for the Comets’ closest rival. The first change actually started last season when the Ambush turned to St. Louis soccer legend Tony Glavin to as their head coach.

After a 0-6 start, Glavin was brought in to turn the team’s fortunes. His first win came against the Comets on December 29th. In fact, that was the team’s first ever win against the Comets. Although Glavin was only able to muster four more wins the remainder of the season, his team played with a much better sense of organization and strategy that made sure his squad was competitive in each match. This season Glavin has the chance to reshape his roster around veterans like Stefan St. Louis, Kory Dowell and Corey Adamson.

Of course, there will be some significant losses from last year’s roster to make up for as well. The team’s leading scorer from the past three years, Odaine Sinclair left over the offseason to join the Comets. Veterans Chad Vandegriffe (Milwaukee Wave), Freddy Moojen (Florida Tropics) and Anthony Arico have also decided to move on from the squad. Add to that the retirements of Jeff DiMaria and Elvir Kafedzic and the Ambush will have their work cut out for them this season.
