HARRIS, GIBSON NAMED TO MISL TEAM OF THE WEEK

Six Comets Players Honored in First Four Games

INDEPENDENCE, MO (December 17, 2013) – The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced on Tuesday that Missouri Comets defender Brian Harris and forward Leo Gibson were named to the MISL Team of the Week for the fifth week of the 2013-2014 regular season. Midfielder Lucas Rodriguez and defender Coady Andrews were named Honorable Mention. This marks the fifth and sixth Team of the Week honors for the Comets after just four games. Harris scored his first hat-trick of his career on Friday night against the Milwaukee Wave. William Vanzela of the Baltimore Blast was named the league’s Player of the Week after recording the second shutout of the MISL season as the Blast defeated the Rochester Lancers 12-0 on Friday night. Vanzela, who last season earned the MISL Championship Series MVP award, recorded nine saves in the shutout, lowering his points-against average for the season to 6.62, which leads the league. Nick Vorberg, who shut out the Blast in an 8-0 win on November 23, in recording a shutout this season, the first for the Blast since Sagu earned a shutout against Rockford on February 21, 2010. Joining Vanzela on the Team of the Week is his teammate Frederico Moojen, who had a pair of goals in the Blast’s victory against the Lancers. St. Louis’ Odaine Sinclair completed the forward line after recording five points in two games as the Ambush split a pair of contests in upstate New York.
