COMETS SIGN THREE MORE PLAYERS

KANSAS CITY (Oct. 17, 2016) — The Kansas City Comets announced the signing of three players on Monday ahead of the 2016-17 Major Arena Soccer League season, including Comets veteran defender John Sosa, former MISL Rookie of the Year Odaine Sinclair and goalkeeper Brendan Allen.

Sosa starts his sixth season with the Comets. After playing midfield his rookie season, he transitioned to defense, becoming one of the league’s best along the way. He tied for third on the team last season with 28 points from nine goals and 19 assists in the regular season. He added two goals and four assists in the playoffs. He was among the team’s top five point-scorers in each of the last four seasons.

Sosa was a crucial piece of the 2014 MISL Championship squad, playing all 20 regular season games and contributing 46 points. He added another goal and assist in the playoffs.

Asked about the upcoming season, John Sosa said, “I’m looking forward to the new challenge with a new coach and new season, but I’m really excited to continue playing in front of the league’s greatest fans.”

Forward Odaine Sinclair, who was named the MISL Rookie of the Year in 2014, comes to the Comets from the St. Louis Ambush. A standout in the MISL’s 2014 Rookie Combine, Sinclair was highly sought after before landing with the Ambush. The forward appeared in all but two games for the Ambush over the last three seasons with 36 goals and 38 assists.

Brendan Allen, a Park Hill South graduate, rejoins the Kansas City Comets after last being with the team during the 2014 MISL Championship season.

The Comets roster currently stands at 14 veteran players and the team expects to announce the remainder of the roster in the coming days. The 2016-2017 Season Opener is October 29th against the Cedar Rapids Rampage at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. For Comets tickets or more information call 855-4KC-GOAL or visit kccomets.com.
