COMETS PLAY A HOME AND AWAY WEEKEND

KANSAS CITY (Jan 19. 2017) – The Kansas City Comets have two games this weekend, playing at home on Friday 7:35 p.m. CT against the Syracuse Silver Knights and then traveling north to face the rival Chicago Mustangs on Sunday at 3:05 p.m. CT.

The Comets are hoping to extend their current three game winning streak against the Silver Knights. They defeated the St. Louis Ambush on New Year’s Eve and won a pair of games in California this past weekend against the Ontario Fury and the San Diego Sockers.

Against the Sockers, defender Alain Matingou scored his first career hat-trick, including the game-winning goal with 21.4 seconds left in the match. Matingou was the lone defender named to the MASL’s Team of the Week for his efforts.

The Comets are led by Leo Gibson with 14 goals and 16 assists. He is currently ranked 2nd in the league for assists as well. Defender John Sosa is tied for 3rd in the MASL assists category with 13.

The Silver Knights come into to Kansas City fresh off a thrilling win against the Harrisburg Heat. Joey Tavernese has 19 points (17 goals, 2 assists) to lead the Silver Knights. Antonio Manfut (9 goals) and Kenardo Forbes (8 goals) have also provided some of Syracuse’s offensive firepower.

Taylor Bond leads the Mustangs with 19 goals and 8 assists (27 points). Miguel Vaca is second on the team with 7 goals and 9 assists (16 pts).
