COMETS ARE CALIFORNIA DREAMING

KANSAS CITY (Jan 12. 2016) – The Kansas City Comets (6-4) kick off 2017 with a two-game west coast trip this weekend. They travel to face the Ontario Fury on Friday at 9:05 p.m. CT and then head down to take on the San Diego Sockers on Saturday, that game also kicks off at 9:05 p.m. CT. Both games will be broadcast on the Major Arena Soccer League’s streaming home, MASLtv on YouTube.

The Comets closed out 2016 with a New Year’s Eve road win at the St. Louis Ambush. In that game, the Comets jumped out to a 5-2 halftime lead behind, and then held on for an 8-5 victory. Leo Gibson scored two goals and six other players each had one score.

The Ontario Fury sit in third place in the MASL’s Pacific Division with a 4-5 record. They are led by Mauricio Salles and Nick Perera, who each have 15 points. Former Comets player, Tiguinho, was named the Week Seven Player of the Week for his three-point effort in a tough battle against the Tacoma Stars.

The San Diego Sockers are on top of the Pacific Division table with a record of 8-3. Forward Kraig Chiles recently set the franchise scoring record. He now has 303 career goals with the Sockers and 22 this season. San Diego’s roster may look very familiar to many Kansas City fans. Former Comets players Boris Pardo, Max Touloute and Jeff Hughes all call San Diego home now.
